Welcome to Hopkinton Special Olympics

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
- Special Olympics Oath

Hopkinton Special Olympics is a local chapter of the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing year-round sports training and competition for people eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities. Our hope is to provide opportunities to develop physical fitness, self-confidence, friendships and skills that carry over into school, family life and community.

Athletes with and without disabilities train and compete side by side as a "unified team". Combining athletes with intellectual disabilities and those without (called "partners") provides an opportunity to develop friendships and an understanding of each other's capabilities. Our sports programs are offered free of charge, thanks to donations from private parties, local organizations and town leagues. The program director, coaches and unified partners are non-paid volunteers. Donated funds help purchase sports equipment, uniforms and competition fees. Athletes are able to learn and develop athletic skills under the support of their community and the direction of certified coaches.
